When in the shop window, and you want to buy an item.
Shift-Left Click - and then move your mouse over another item in the shop. It deletes the item, and subtracts money as if you bought something. And no item goes to your inventory.

Thanks for the report, I’ve reproduced this. In my experience, the sequence of events is that you are charged gold for the item as soon as you pick it up, and clicking elsewhere in the shop will sell the item you just bought (which is on your cursor).
