tested with Hungering Souls and Marrow Shards. these bodies block projectiles. unfortunately, there was another area I encountered recently that did this but I don’t remember where. I didn’t see bodies at the other location, so perhaps some other ground object was blocking them.
edit: seems there’s a center on each of them that i also can’t step over.

Another area that is blocking projectiles is a large portion of this rock with Rouj Zabat
