When you use Abyssal Echos, the effects of the skill make other elements of the game clip and dissapear, turning invisible. This happens all the time!
This affect floor AoEs like poison pools and some type of mobs like Wisps and Ice Elementals (the mobs will disappear the same way poison does on the clip)
