Do spells casted from other skills work as spell casted recently?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently playing a Mage and I’m focusing mainly on the Spellblade passive tree. In there, many nodes, such as Spellbound Weapon and Blade Weaver, state that melee attacks gain extra damage from recently casted spells.

Also, I’m using Shatter Strike as my main damage skill. In its skill tree, Shatter Strike can fire Ice Spikes (by pressing Alt, I can see that they are spells).

So, my question is: Would Ice Spikes grant me extra melee damage? or, in other words, Do Ice Spikes work with Spellbound Weapon and Blade Weaver?
