[Build] Ignite Damage Over Time 0.7.4b Update

Hi. After quick break from Last Epoch i thought i would play my first Mage. I have started with fire spells Mage with high critical chance. I have ended up with ignite damage over time build.

I thought i would share before i get bored and move to next build.
Nothing impressive here, build works and it doesn’t need any unique or set’s items.


Play style

Fire Shield - ignite damage, ignite chance on hit (global) and elemental resistances
Teleport - moving and spamming 3 novas overlapping each other
Volcanic Orb - single target, finishing what left and crowd control.
Black Hole - crowd control (packs of fast mobs) and single target (bosses)
Foucus - mana regen (base level sadly)

Spell damage, critical strike chance and critical strike multiplier don’t scale ignite damage and damage over time.

Items

Item can have only 4 affixes; 2 prefixes and 2 suffixes. Ignite damage modifiers can be only prefixes. We can use suffixes to build our defensive: health, armor, protections. Some of best defensive mechanics are as well prefixes like glancing blow. Other could be both prefix and suffix: dodge, stun, block and other.

All affixes (some not updated with patch 0.7.4b)

Patch 0.7.4

Increased Elemental Damage Over Time on Belts, Rings, Amulets, Relics, and Wands.

T5 prefix on:
amulet - 120%
wand - 180%
relic - 120%
ring - 120%
belt - 120%

We could have 380% more increased damage over time compere to before patch.

Ignite Chance for 4 seconds on potion use on Belts

Before patch we couldn’t have second damage modifier on belt to ignite damage. This prefix on Tier 5 can roll 220-300% ignite chance. With max roll, it’s 3 stack of ignite for 4 seconds.

It could be around 700 ignite damage and with use ignite prefix on belt, damage ll be hot.
I can’t wait to get more shards and bases for crafts.

Weapon

We can use any wand/scepter from start.

Affixes we need:
elemental damage over time (prefix) - T5: 105-180%
damage over time (prefix) - T5: 57-90%
fire damage (prefix) - T5: 44-70%
cast speed (prefix)
elemental damage (prefix)

Additional as a suffix anything you need/find/craft.

Iron Sceptre. After patch 0.7.4b %increased elemental damage implicit roll has changed. I’m not sure of max roll. I have one with 95%. Downside of this weapon is, it can’t have elemental damage overtime prefix.

The best wand with cast speed modifier is Infernal Wand. I have wands with 14% roll. It has been added in patch 0.7.4b.

Second wand with cast speed is Golem Eye Wand

I was lucky with this craft. Open suffix still.


Amulet

Affixes we need on amulet:

elemental damage over time (prefix) - T5: 82-120%
damage over time (prefix) - T5: 44-70%
fire damage (prefix) - T5: 44-70%
elemental damage (prefix)
intelligence (prefix)
cast speed (prefix)

As a bonus anything we are missing.

We can use any base. The best base for damage craft is Brass Amulet - cast speed

Best i have atm.


Belt

We can use any base. I use 5 pots belt Ranger’s Belt.
After patch 0.7.4 with new prefix on potion use for ignite it’s the best base imo.

elemental damage over time (prefix) - T5: 70-120%
damage over time (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
ignite chance for 4 seconds on potion use (prefix) - T5: 220-300%

As a bonus anything we are missing.

There is interesting unique belt Chains of Uleros i may use if i find it.

Best i have atm.


Rings

We can use any base. If you crafting, the best base i would say is Gold Ring or Silver Ring

Affixes we need on rings:

elemental damage over time (prefix) - T5: 70-120%
damage over time (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
fire damage (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
elemental damage (prefix)
intelligence (prefix)

As a bonus anything we are missing.

Need more bases and shards to craft better rings.


Relic

Any base can works. I have crafted on Solarum Ensign and Sunrise Emblem

elemental damage over time (prefix) - T5: 70-120%
damage over time (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
fire damage (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
cast speed (prefix)
intelligence (prefix)

As a suffix anything we need.

For leveling we can use unique Tome of Elements for leech.

On level 34 we can use Soulfire

Not perfect relic base but got it from drop. Just had to add some upper tiers.


Gloves

We can use any base. I use Noble Gloves base for more cast speed.

Affixes we need on gloves:

damage over time (prefix) - T5: 38-60%
cast speed (prefix) - gives more ignite damage then intelligence
or
intelligence (prefix)

As a bonus anything we are missing.

I will try to craft better one if i get more 10% cast speed bases.


Helmet

Only intelligent as a ignite modifier can be crafted on it. We can use anything we are missing.

I use common unique Calamity it gives the highest buff to ignite dmg on helmet slot but its not necessary.

Good base with prefix can be found only on helmet.


Boots

We can use any base, for me move speed is priority.

intelligence (prefix) - only affix can buff damage on boots
move speed (suffix)

As a addition anything we need.

Crappy boots, need good base for new.


Shield

Any shield. We can’t get any damage modifier on shield for ignite. Pick up any good or craft anything you need on it.

There is unique shield with fire damage i haven’t use still. Rahyeh’s Light

I will try to craft shield high block chance and good defensive stats.

I use it atm.


Body Armor

Only intelligence as a ignite modifier can be crafted on it. Put on anything you need or craft what you need on it.

For craft Solarum Plate has highest 220 armor.

Not bad craft.


Ward

Ignite isn’t hit, it’s damage over time so we don’t get wards from passives hit mechanics. Relying only on getting ward from potion prefixes it’s not sufficient. On the top of that we would lose so much damage. I don’t see it to be working even with unique belt Chains of Uleros. If those potion affixes would be suffixes i would try to use it.


Leveling

I would say it ll be easier to level with fire skills and critical bonuses and later swap for pure ignite damage. Can’t confirm, don’t have plans to test, sorry.


Crafting

It is very expensive if you aiming for 4 affixes. Don’t.

I craft first item with just damage prefixes, don’t need to be perfect. When i have all items with damage mods i start to craft new items trying to get 2 x tier 5 damage prefixes and 1 x tier 1-3+ defensive suffixes. Best way for me is pick up bases i want with at least one mod i need.

Very often i do lottery on item with Rune of Removal. Good Luck.

To do

Need to craft new items :slight_smile:

Increased Elemental Damage Over Time prefix that rolls on Belts, Rings, Amulets, Relics, and Wands from level 50 on wards.
- 3xt1 craft on 10% base wand, open suffix still

Test ward protection points on tree as well new ward prefixes.
- Don’t work with ignite to good. To much investment, to much damage lost.

Craft defensive setup: high protection, block, glancing blow, dodge.


Update 0.7.4

New patch brings prefixes :
Ignite Chance for 4 seconds on potion use prefix that rolls on Belts

Increased Elemental Damage Over Time prefix that rolls on Belts, Rings, Amulets, Relics, and Wands from level 50 on wards.

Update 0.7.4b

The Insight buff from Arcane Insight now gives 20% increased elemental damage and 20% ward retention per point (from 15% increased spell damage and 15% ward retention).

50% chance with 10 points invested for 20% increased elemental damage. That is 20% more elemental damage then before patch. I use it just for 10 intelligence. Ward doesn’t work to good with ignite, it’s not hit but damage over time.

Question:in the mage tree it says you have 20 point allocated but from the pic it looks like you have 26 with 8 in each of the tier 1 passives. Is this correct?
I am currently leveling this build so I’ll report back when I get further. Thanks

I have 26 points used in Mage tree. Counter showing only 20 seems bugged. I have been respecting tree several times testing here and there.

In Sorcerer tree i may change 5 spells points in first row for armor and mana. I took a break from this build. New changes for shapeshifters looks promising i’ll mess a bit with it.
